Review on Gouache Carrying Students Watercolor Painting Painting, Drawing & Art Supplies by Amy Mcleod

Worth the price!

I have never tried professional grade gouache so I have no comparison to this product. Although the color quality of this palette is probably more for students than artists, it is quite good. And definitely for the money, it's REALLY very good. There is a good range of colors and the paint itself is mostly opaque unless diluted. I can't comment on how durable or resilient this product is, but I would say you should adjust your pricing accordingly. This palette would be GREAT for a gouache beginner, which I am. I'm not familiar with the jelly cup concept, but it seems to work pretty well. You MUST open all the containers at once if you really want to paint, otherwise it will be a big mess and logistically very difficult. Saving colors for later use also doesn't work unless you remove them from the palette. The palette itself is a bit bigger and heavier than I expected, but I like it. The lid does NOT close completely so it's not airtight, but I didn't try to take out the included mixing palette inside either. I left the palette and lid and so far the color is fine. I tried covering the open jelly cups with a damp paper towel to keep them moist, but that didn't seem to help and the palette was even more difficult to close. The lack of an airtight lid is my only criticism of this product! Gouache is a real treat right after opening - the texture is creamy, thick and smooth. I hope it stays more or less like this! In my opinion a great product, especially for the price.

Pros
  • 24 DURABLE BRIGHT COLORS: 30ml per colour. Each color has a fantastically thick consistency that holds brush or palette knife marks and adds a glossy texture to your work.
Cons
