Yes, it is "stainless" steel and it is very sturdy. All in all, this is a great table for my micro-greens grow room and for someone being north of 6 feet tall , my back isn't hunched over like the unfortunate Quasimodo from Notre-Dame. Installation went pretty quick and does not take the mind of Einstein to complete it, unlike many other mail order tables, for reasons unknown. There is only one downfall to this product, big enough to cause a drop in the 5 star rating, the "protective" layer of sticky wrapping is unjustifiably tough to remove without an industrial strength fingernail,but I was only born with big feet and blessed with towering height, so I let my wife handle it.
