Found a nice straight piece of copper tubing and carefully tightened it up, then screwed in the valve train and BAM! It was nice to go. I checked for leaks, connected the Schrader valve to the A/C on the low pressure side, opened the valve screw one turn, and then read the pressure on the A/C gauge. I filled the system with freon, checked pressure and temperature again, blocked the valve and BAM (again). My hybrid water heater worked much better. I closed everything and checked again for leaks. 4 weeks later it's still holding up great. I probably saved myself $300-$400 with this item. I may need to charge the system from time to time, but with this adapter it takes 10-20 minutes. Much better than buying another $1200 heat pump water heater!
