Our area is at risk of a power outage due to extreme heat warnings and too much air conditioning reducing performance. I have small portable power packs that charge my cell phone and iPad, but they only last a few full charges before needing a 110V charge. I ordered this 600w inverter to power my laptop and router in extreme situations to ensure wi-fi is available. . Now it can't power a refrigerator, microwave, or coffee maker, but it's enough for basic communications, lighting from standard household light bulbs, and maybe a small TV or projector. With direct connection to the car battery with the included alligator clips or in the car with the included DC cable (cigarette lighter), you don't have to worry about the power supply. Also included are two spare 40A fuses in case of an accidental overload. Replacement fuses can be purchased at any Walmart or auto parts store for a few dollars. Read the instructions for red light and sound warnings for overload or underload. The device has safety features that warn you of possible overload/underload situations. UPDATE: I'm on the US West Coast. We had shut down the "Brown Out" SCE and I was very happy to be able to charge our communication devices. I have DL movies on my devices and bluetooth speakers so everything was fine. No air conditioning but tolerable.
