I've recently started felting and was very confused about the price of wool felt mats so this struck me as a good alternative - if you're unsure or still learn felting. The advantages are that it is relatively cheap and offers the necessary protection and base. The downsides are that tiny pieces will chip off from time to time, black can bleach lighter coats, and has a limited lifespan. Depending on how often you use it, it could last as little as a few weeks or a few months. I bit the bullet and bought a large Woolbuddy rug for about $18 which is amazing and lasts a lot longer than Styrofoam and is a lot more eco-friendly too. costs a little more
