Works when needed for wastewater treatment

The science and logic of using this product is clear and simple; Addition of beneficial microbes to the septic tank to achieve/maintain a good ratio of beneficial microbes to solids/paper/grease. There are several factors that need to be weighed including; the current age/condition of the system, the size and habits of the household, the frequency of pumping, the design and capacity of the system, and the ability to properly inspect the system. Given these factors, this is easy to understand. those who show common sense that, for example, a small family with good habits and a good pumping frequency, using a reliable system, most likely does not need to use such a product, while a large family with bad habits uses an older system that is less than the optimal one Size, will likely 1) need to (or rather MUST) pump much more often and 2) promote/maintain good microbial levels with Rid X or a similar product. In cases where a larger amount of beneficial microbes is needed, it works well when used as intended in combination with good habits. When this is the case, the necessary microbes are provided to break down solids and fat at an optimal rate and reduce/eliminate odors caused by insufficient microbes. Rid X is not a panacea in a bottle that can fix your bad habits or broken/overloaded system. The inspector must have extensive knowledge from experience and history of the system in question and be honest in their recommendations. All factors must be considered. Again, common sense dictates that sometimes a quick smell test can help make an informed decision on whether a Reed X is needed when all other factors are considered. If your system is producing bad smells, you are low on beneficial microbes (for whatever reason) and adding Rid X will help your system function properly. With that in mind, Rid X claims it helps "prevent septic backlog," which is true, albeit relative to your situation. Good habits are prudent too, like avoiding antibacterial soaps, bleach, harsh chemicals, and using only septic tank-safe single-ply paper. For my family, Rid X works absolutely monthly; it definitely and unquestionably eliminates the odors produced when not in use and over the years has visibly cleaned the main line to the tank which now looks visually very clean (despite being 50 years old). Of course, with my kids away and less bedding, dishes, and bleach being used, it's easier to achieve and maintain a healthy level of beneficial microbes. Maybe eliminates the need to use it. additional useful microbes that my system needs due to our situation and download the system a little more often. The above are the basic, fundamental principles, although not an exhaustive, all-encompassing discussion. I hope this helps someone decide if this item is worth buying.
