Very medium level, good hand. Needs some modifications

I have this "webcam stand" to use with my phone for top down recording on my desktop with my Galaxy S10+ (soon to be S21 Ultra). In this application, I immediately changed the mount from the tripod mount to the cell phone mount. I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the phone holder. Right out of the box, the thread on the ball joint had large notches, making it difficult to screw it in. After cleaning the threads, I was able to fully tension the tie-down cords, but even at maximum tension, it's still not difficult to move around the ball head. I would really like it to be much tighter. The basis for this is terrible. First, the hand didn't even fit all the way into the hole. I tested it in all possible ways and it just didn't work. I was able to get about halfway through it, but it just wasn't great. I also opened up the base to try and make a new one, but the base is filled with concrete for weight. Since it's filled with concrete, I couldn't easily add extra weight. Also, the base is barely heavy enough to hold even a large full-length phone like mine without tipping over. If you were to use it in a more conservative position I could see it might work. If you look at the photos I posted you can see that the arm is not fully inserted into the base, wide angle and standard angle. I also posted two photos of the stand in one of its highest positions. The next part is more interesting. Since my workbench has a ceiling, I decided to draw a sketch to keep my hand off the ceiling. This solution worked great and I was able to successfully mount the bracket on the ceiling. In this configuration, the hand is large. The springs and zip ties work very well and I will be using this for video recording. Overall, if you're looking for top-down shots with a heavy phone, this might not be for you. If you're holding a webcam, that's probably fine. The base sucks, the hand is good.
