After reading the description I thought it was all too good to be true. Succumbed to the idea of using only one external drive as an external drive, multiple drives (VHD) and an optical drive together with PIN encryption, I decided to give it a try. This device has become my go-to tool in almost every computer repair/diagnostic situation. For computers that cannot boot from external flash drives, I can mount the ISO image and iODD will act as a virtual disk reader so the computer will boot. When booting from "hard disk" I can mount either a hard disk or a virtual drive (very handy when dealing with multiple file systems) to transfer files. as much as possible and it works fine. Once plugged in and powered on, it will ask for your PIN code (optional) and then switch to the last setup or "USB mode" (HDD, Optical Drive, VHD, Combo) you had. It takes a minute to learn how to navigate the menu, but there are also a few shortcuts available by holding down the numbers on the pinpad. I highly recommend finding and reading the manual to get the most out of it. This case is great overall and has great security features, but it still has some downsides depending on your perspective. First, the pinpad is great, but sometimes I have to press hard on the numbers for it to register input. Second, objective speed, when I first got iODD, I added a 1TB hard drive to test it and everything. After running a few speed tests, I found that I was getting around 100MB/s on average, and if I started the computer with an optical image, it would take a few extra seconds to mount (mounts after the BIOS detects the devices Has). Then I decided to try the SSD I had. sat idle and got improvements, but I don't expect anything from typical external SSDs. My speeds went up to just over 200MB/s, but that was enough to mount the BIOS images to intercept them. Speed is not an issue for me, when working with many computers you get patient and the speed of 200MB/s is still faster than most of them with hard drives. done as fast as I could without them. Recommend this to anyone who uses Live CDs, manages multiple filesystems and so on.
