Review on Sklon Ski Boot Bag Backpack: The Versatile And Stylish Solution For Carrying Skiing And Snowboarding Gear by John Frazier

Looks/feels great, but MUST pack boots 1st otherwise they won't fit

This bag is extremely comfortable to hold and to wear - the straps are really well designed and placed. I'm not convinced the seems will last more than a couple of seasons as I noticed some seems were stretching/exposed out of the box, but I hope I am wrong. The design is sleek, and the outer shell seems to be reasonably water resistant. Unlike other bags, however, the boot compartment does not have a tarpaulin liner, so I am hesitant to put wet/snowy boots back into the bag. Further on this point, it's difficult to pack boots into the bag if the other compartments are full/packed. It's important to keep this in mind depending on what kind of skiing you are doing. I don't tour, but I assume these issues may not be ideal for someone who does and needs to be able to pack/unpack without taking everything out and re-packing each time. Also, although I love the soft lined top pocket which would be great for goggles and other delicate items, it's way too shallow to fit my oakley flight deck xl goggles and additional lenses, so they instead need to be packed into my helmet if I'm placing my helmet in the helmet compartment. The final comment I'd add is that, if you're like me and primarily going on ski weekends at/near a resort, and using this bag for easy packing from condo->car, keep the helmet on the outside if it comes with its own cinch bag that can be attached to the boot bag externally via carabiner etc., so you have more room in the bag for clothes, goggles, etc. I got this on sale for $60 and I think it is worth about that, but I would not pay $100 for this bag.

Pros
  • Boots
Cons
  • The backpack may not provide enough support for heavy loads or extended periods of use
