Review on Polycom SoundStation IP 5000 - PoE Powered (Power Supply Excluded) by Taylor Johnston

Works great on an 8ft boardroom table

We have this phone in the center of a 3.5ft x 8ft rectangular table in a 14ft x 18ft conference room. The speaker's sound quality is excellent, and the volume is high enough to be heard in a room full of noisy people. The phone picks up voices at normal volume levels very clearly from anywhere around the table, although people at the head of the table need to be careful not to lean too far back or turn away when speaking. Microphone pickup from people standing away from the table, especially at far ends of the room, may not be clear, especially if the speaker's voice is low. However, a speaker/speaker can be heard almost anywhere in the room unless there is a lot of other noise. This phone only supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) and has no direct air conditioning. Adapter plug-in port (I found the hard way that 48V adapters are useless like this: Polycom (OEM) Compatible 48V Universal Power Supply) If you don't have a PoE system, you'll need an adapter instead that says "" " Power over Ethernet. I bought this inexpensive piece of equipment and it works great: Plusource Networks Universal Wall Plug 48v POE Injector for most Cisco/Polycom/Aastra phones (I've also posted a review of this part if you need more info. Eventually we'll update this a Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business system Our ISP does the initialization so all we had to do was connect it to the network, click on the menu to find the IP address and give it to a tech over the phone, unfortunately I can't about that talk setting up another VOIP system.
