Review on Perky-Pet 16oz Plastic Oriole Feeder - Model 467-3 by Catherine Buhr

Good feeder, AFTER several modifications.

I have never owned an Oriole feeder. When I bought this and hung it up, it tipped on its side and was leaking. So I modified the end of the half inch diameter rod I already had and installed the feeder on the rod. This solved the tilt problem. Then I let the ants climb the pole and fill the feeder. So I converted the hanging ant screen to a pole mounted ant screen. That took care of the ants. Then, WO, an oriole flew over to me and started feeding on my HUMMINGBIRD feeder. A couple of times he sat on that oriole feed and looked at it but didn't know what to do with it. He must have left because I only saw him one day. I then decided to take a black felt tip pen and draw some very small round "fake" or false feeding holes across the slots in the gum orange slices so if I get another oriole she'll know what to do with the feed and glue her beak shall do. into the gap, thinking it was a round hole, like a hummingbird feeder. The trick finally worked with the hummingbird. She came and took a good look and was fooled, she drank from an oriole feeder and I have pictures to prove it (see picture gallery for this product). So. I'm still waiting for the oriole to feed at this feeder. Damn! such a pain! Shelley Lyons, Taylor, Michigan
