Review on πŸ”§ SmallRig Ergonomic Handle with ARRI Locating Holes & Anti-Off Cold Shoe Adapter - 2165 by Larry Daniels

Winner Winner - Chicken Dinner. Like Tilta, but not her.

It was between four grips and I preferred this grip. Similar to Tilta's BMPCC 4K/6k design, but not available on the Panasonic GH5. The Tilta grip is adjustable, but this one is not. Let's see how the pen performs and if my opinion changes. I like the Arri style dowel pins and tightening the thumbscrew with the allen wrench was quick and easy on the small 2165b rig. The low profile, not too big and not too small, seemed to balance things out nicely as far as I could tell; the time will show? Quickly and easily removed and conveniently stowed in the Think Tank Hubba Hubba Hiney Bag. I found, that adjusting my noga hand for the atomos shinobi made it difficult to hold the top handle with my hand. However, this may not be a problem when shooting with a lock (tripod). I probably won't use it as a side handle, but you might as well. I liked the ability to stick a 15mm wand through the center or add shinobi on top if you didn't use ink (small fill light). The stem is 8" long if you want to attach a 5.2" shinobi without hitting the side handle. I found the noga lever to be quite strong provided you tighten 1/4"-20 on the cage. I spoke to a friend at Samy's and he mentioned that the noga arm is the only arm that stays secure and doesn't dangles. He mentioned that a new one costs $140, and I think I spent a lot more when I bought the first NAB LED light back then. The reason I mention this is because you can use your hand as a side grip with infinite positions to view the shinobi field monitor. From my first impression it feels really too heavy and wide, haven't shot with this setup yet. Update: My Panasonic GH5 turned into a 10lb mini rig. I converted a Panasonic Chromiel tripod plate and upgraded it to an Atomos Ninja 5 with a gold mounted Anton Bauer Tilta battery plate. Now that installation has become difficult again (no matte box yet), I don't find this little install button ideal. The grip area is slightly forward and short, making it difficult to properly balance a camera mount with 98 amp core SWX batteries. In addition, the shape of the grip size and balance points make the rig so unbalanced that it can slip. So unfortunately I'm breaking up. With the Arri pins I can only secure the grip in the front position and not further back,

Cons
