Review on Acer ET108 11A 80PZ Octa Core Processor Handstrap by Michael Tegan

Decent smaller tablet

I know all the cool kids want thin bezels and no headphone jacks, but. I want to be able to hold my tablet securely without accidentally pressing it. This tablet combines, at least at first glance, a "rugged" look with decent CPU and graphics performance, good battery life, a good screen, and decent touch performance (which I think diminishes as the display gets larger - just anecdotally , but hey ). not a "computational workhorse", but that's okay. Positives: * Dust covers for all ports. I wouldn't submerge it in water on purpose, but I'm not scared if it rains a little. * Headphone jack. * MicroSD card slot * Comes with an incredible spare charger. like something for a small laptop. It seems overkill, but it charges quickly. * Face buttons at the bottom of the screen (in portrait mode) * Back of the case is removable (screws!) for possible battery repair/replacement * Flat feet and D-rings on the back for attaching a strap or the included hand strap A few cons - * Speaker placement and sound quality: The rear speaker placement results in the speaker being significantly muffled when the tablet is placed on a flat surface. The speaker's frequency response appears to be clamped around 2 kHz. maybe a little higher. I didn't take any measurements. but it's a bit tiring to listen to for a long time (at least to my ears). * The position of the power button in relation to the volume buttons is a bit problematic - they could be further apart. * The cameras are a bit crappy. .a little. They're not BAD. I bought this thing not to take artistic HDR photos, but. just keep your expectations reasonable.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
