I bought a genuine Dyson part a long time ago and didn't use it on my DC44 because it didn't collect. He just pushed everything around including pet hair that just got stuck in the brush but wasn't vacuumed up. THE PROBLEM WAS ME. I was conservative with the battery and didn't use max settings! So if you're still using the dc44 like me (or a compatible model), upgrade! Got this for my second vacuum and it's what I wanted, just like the original Dyson machine. I can't tell them apart except for the name on the Dyson. It's like a powerful Swiffer! It still won't pick up splinters or long pine needles, but my goodness, it's far from useless! My original DC44 battery has a capacity of 2000mAh, but upgraded batteries of the same type work and offer twice the runtime so consider those as well.
