I get Host Dry Cleaning Services to safely clean large jute rugs. I've used it several times over the years. I usually take small handfuls and scatter them on the carpet. Then I gently stroke the fibers with a wallpaper smoothing brush. Leave to dry for 30 to 60 minutes and vacuum. I am happy with the results. I know Host has a cleaning machine that can be used with this product, but I have never used one. What I'm doing works great and I've been doing it for a few years now. I noticed that some of the questions and answers are about using a Dyson vacuum to clean. I used that. Remember that the canister fills up very quickly and needs to be emptied frequently. I had no problem plugging the Dyson or picking it up. The host does have a slight odor but honestly it's not that bad or overpowering. It disappears quickly after vacuuming. I love Host and will likely continue to use it on carpets that aren't safe to water wash.
