Review on πŸ“· SIOTI Bowl Ball Head: Ultimate Mounting Solution for DSLR, Mirrorless Cameras, Camcorders, Telescopes, Sliders, and Tripods by Randy Bin

Excellent ball head with stable and smooth adjustment, holds Surface Pro 6.

I understand most people buy these ball heads for cameras but I use them to hold devices. I've tried different brands and price ranges and the best I can describe is that you can get a quality ball head for around $40-$50 for around $16. Now back to what I use it for: I've put together a couple of mounts for the iPad and the Surface Pro. My requirements are that the ball head must be able to support about 2 pounds (and still at odd angles), be easy to adjust, and be accessible. Also, the ball head itself needs to be quite light as it is at the end of the arm, and every gram affects the stability of the rig (I've tried several high quality ball sockets that weigh literally the same as the unit and lower your hand due to their weight). This thing ticks all of those boxes. Also of note is that the cheapest ball heads have a nicely polished ball. which means they crawl with little vibration. This is structured and stays in place very well. The only way to improve on this ball head is to make the fixed base a little smaller in diameter (for people like me who need to mount it on something else and need clearance). for extra set screws etc.) that literally weigh the same as the device and lower their hand due to their weight).
