Review on Dell Precision M6400 17-inch Core 2 Duo 160GB Notebook: Superior Performance and Ample Storage by Cary Clemons

Sturdy but quite old

This is a very good take on an old Dell workstation. The graphics are good. The hard drive is a bit small by today's standards, but it's easily replaced with SATA. Please note that Dell has not released any discs that would allow this machine to be used with Win10. The weakest point is of course the processor. Although this is a workstation, the dual-core processor is significantly slower than even the average I3 processor available in today's machines. Also, I'm a little wary of buying used. The car I bought was advertised as "like new" but arrived with a dented back. When I tried to update the Win7 OS, the update took several hours and never completed. When I investigated the issue, there was such a long list of troubleshooting steps that I decided to return the computer. As opposed to buying direct through Revain, I had to pay shipping both ways even though the car arrived in worse condition than advertised. Just a few things to know about this car and buying upgrades.
