Review on Samsung BD F5700 Wi Fi Blu Ray Player by Corby Muin

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worth the investment and great little player

My wife and I bought this to replace the PlayStation3 as our home theater Blu-ray player. The PS3 will work fine, it will just be very noisy as the fan is running all the time. It was annoying, especially in the quieter parts of the movie where you could hear the fan hum. As for the player itself, it worked great. I connected it to my 55" Samsung Smart TV via an Onkyo TX-NR 636 with Energy Take Classic speakers. The user interface is easy to navigate and the player is very quiet when playing Blu-Ray and DVD discs. During upon setup it was connected to Wi-Fi by default, although I connected it to my home network with a cat5e cable.suffice it to switch to a wired connection instead of wireless in the settings menu. For the price you can't beat it, it charges and charges fast the disc's content quickly, unlike first-generation Blu-ray players Worth the investment!

Pros
  • Sleek design

Works great; lots of options; not so fond of the controls.

Lasted 2.5 years. Cannot handle a "hidden" wifi network; ok as a dvd/blu ray player
