First time using Chemex - so far so good

I moved to a new apartment and needed a new coffee maker and I needed a night I came across Chemex while researching. I'd never heard of it before, but I liked the idea of not having a clunky machine on my already cluttered desk. I argued about getting 6 cups or 8 cups but ended up with 6 cups. Most of the time I drink it, but sometimes my daughter drinks coffee too. I also have a gooseneck kettle and a coffee filter. I've only used it a few times but so far I'm really enjoying it. Love that it's easy and makes a nice clean cup of coffee. I was worried the process would be too cumbersome, but I actually enjoy the routine. The only thing I don't like so far is figuring out how to keep warm. For now I'm putting the Chemex in a pot of water to keep it warm until I think of something else. So when I boil water in the kettle, I pour some water into the pot at the same time, so the water in the pot will be warm when it's done. I read about a woman using a silicone lid to keep warm and I thought that was a great idea. Now 6 cups works fine. I'd say half a "pot" will get you about 1 1/2 - 2 cups/mug, and a full pot would serve 2 at a time. Yesterday my daughter and I drank a little and there was even a little left. If you're arguing about size like I am, if you're using it for 2 people and drinking more than 2 cups each, I'd go for 8 cups. If you are 1 or 2 people and only drink a cup or two, 6 cups would be the right size.

Pros
