I have been using Metrokane vacuum connectors for over a year and they work great. I like the fact that they have a pressure gauge so I'm pretty sure there's a vacuum there. it takes one week. the wine still tastes fresh, even the Pinot Noir, which wears off quickly. My pump was worn out and needed to be replaced. The stoppers still work, although one is stuck in the red zone, so I ripped off the plastic cap and slid it back to zero (blue). works fine again. The new vacuum product 6254 is electric and looks elegant, but without a vacuum gauge. add a vacuum gauge to electrical vacuum plugs and I'll buy one. A word of warning to nerds: don't expect vacuums with micro-burners. This is wine, not space.
