Big knobs are fantastic - they make a huge difference, really a huge one. The size of the deeper grips makes a big difference in holding and moving the cymbal, even when full. I can keep this dish light and good! The slots are perfect for making the necessary cutouts for holding and moving dishes MUCH safer and more secure. Thank goodness they're too small to pinch your fingers. (If my fingers stuck in hot dishes with hot food, I'd end up in the ICU.) I'll never buy a casserole dish without these handles again.
