It worked right out of the box. After about 6 months, the middle connector has somehow bent inwards so that I can no longer put anything in it. After 10 months the lock stopped working so when pulling it out I had to attach something to the cord to keep it from rolling back. I should also add that the cord can't have been pulled more than a few dozen times at this point. Update - I opened it up today to see if I can get the lock working again. Turns out there are 2 plastic gears working together and one is attached to a rivet. It's a little bent, so straightening it out seems to have fixed the problem. I also twisted the spring one more turn so it retracts a little more and all the way. Easy repair with screwdriver and pliers.
