We used to light up the back room and light up the desk and keyboard without having to use an overhead light. It works and is easy to install, but the dimmer is cheap and doesn't work with our Philips Hue bulbs. Of course, he recommends incandescent or halogen bulbs, so that's probably to be expected. There was also a slight hum from the dimmer which was really annoying. Since I'm using Philips Hue LED bulbs, I solved the problem by rearranging the bulbs to avoid using the dimmer button. Since I'm controlling the lights with a Hue wall switch, everything is fine.
