I was looking for a bookshelf for a long time when I came across this one. I was so thrilled with the price and how it looked that I didn't even bother to look at the reviews before ordering (shame on me). After the order had already been processed and the item shipped, I found several reviews and was actually very shocked. Everyone said he was cheap, weak and had nothing. Some even said it fell apart when trying to pick it up. Needless to say, I was a little worried. When the box arrived (2 days after originally scheduled delivery) it was indeed dented and torn in several places. I was worried it would affect the parts inside, it was that bad. I don't know if that happened to UPS or something else, but it was the worst condition I've ever seen a package in. equipment was missing. I don't know if it was because the box was so damaged and fell out or if it was just packaged without it, but I was a little frustrated that I couldn't put it back together. I contacted Furinno support. sent a (practically tattered, by the way) manual via email and said the device came with no hardware. To be honest I expected to have to buy the gear myself but felt like they should know if it was a packaging issue on their end. Within an hour I received an email asking for the order number and model number of the device and they said they would ship the device to me free of charge and apologized for the inconvenience. A few days later I got the equipment and was FINALLY able to assemble my shelf, that's when the real nervousness started. When putting it together I was really worried that everything would fall apart like most reviews said. But I was very surprised at how durable it actually was. It was easy to put together and works really great for what I need! I know it's bad, but I even tried swinging it a few times to see if it would fall with a movement or a slight bump (I have two kids who play in the playroom where my shelf stands). It's not like this. I am really very happy with this product and have attached a picture to show how it looks with all my books.
