House Divided

Note: This review was written by MomOfTwoBoys' husband who is currently sitting in a yoga position sipping a glass of white wine and repeating "oooom" to lower her blood pressure. I would give this pencil sharpener two stars. My wife says one star and only because zero stars is not an option. The woman is not overly critical by nature, but her disdain for this sharpener model knows no bounds. She can't get it to work. She tries to insert the pen gently, straining, trying to twist the pen as she inserts it. Well, poof, nothing. For a while she found that unplugging the power adapter from the device caused the sharpener to start working, but unfortunately not anymore. My interaction with the device has gotten a little better. I found that I got better results when I had a positive attitude while using it. I had a few words of encouragement and was able to sharpen a pencil or two before this thing stopped serving me. But if I'd waited 10 or 20 minutes and come back with a few sweet words of affection, I might re-sharpen, but really, who has that much time. Trying to get a 20-pack of pencils for your kids' school supplies on a Sunday night could take most of the evening if I'm patient while my wife calls cars names, in other words, which I can't repeat here . So no, I would not recommend this Swingline automatic pencil sharpener for its intended purpose. Well, if you are itching to piss off your spouse who is usually an easy-going person, that's another matter!

Pros
  • Standard pencil size
Cons
  • Slightly torn
