Oil change made easy

Changing the oil on my 2012 Colorado is a real PIA. Whether it's draining the pan or removing/installing the filter, Chevy has gone to great lengths to ensure the oil goes everywhere but the drain pan. I've seen different types of drainpipes commercially available but many designs tend to stick out/hang. down far enough to catch on curbs, rocks, etc. Not suitable for off-road use. Also, if the valve itself fails, all your oil will be wasted down the road. Ouch! This design seems more logical to me. Very low profile, can't imagine breaking it before serious damage to the suspension occurs. What particularly surprised me was the durable and reliable stainless steel cover that isolates the valve itself from the outside world. If the valve fails, you won't lose oil (until the next oil change, of course). When I first used it, I fell in love. No gloves, no splashes, no mess. I wish it had a magnetic metal catcher, but I change the oil often enough to live with that. What's hard to swallow is the price, but it should pay off pretty quickly. Changing the oil filter is still a PIA, but the overall pain has now been cut in half. It just works.
