I think there are better options for the same price

I'm new to soldering so I may not have enough experience to appreciate the intricacies of this article, but here's my opinion anyway. It works as it should but I wish the base was heavier and the alligator clips were rubber coated for fear of damaging a tiny SMD or just scratching the board. I solved the weight problem by putting a brick on the edge (haha) and maybe I'll modify the clamps myself with heat shrink tubing or something. The joints are fairly rigid so they don't sag. on you if your workpiece isn't very heavy but isn't stiff enough to stay still when you apply pressure with solder or something. A magnifying glass is nice to have – that convinced me. this object - but it also messes with my depth perception when looking through it, and I can't say with certainty that the magnification is high enough to be significantly useful. and a magnifying glass (I just bought a digital microscope anyway), but that's usually enough I think.
