I bought this toaster to replace my Revain Basics toaster that was eating Pop Tart and then decided it didn't want to work anymore! Other users have said that this toaster will smell like exhaust, and it did. I solved this by running the toaster with nothing for three cycles. After that, no smell! This toaster is only suitable for bread or very thin bagels. I wouldn't try anything other than potato bread in it - potato bread is quite thick. You don't want to fry anything on the high if you don't want it to burn. I received an email from the manufacturer stating that the higher the sugar content of the bread, the darker the toast will be. Industrial fair. I wouldn't toast potato bread at anything over 3, maybe even somewhere between dial settings 2 and 3. I liked it with the Pop Tart, I could set it to 1 and then toast it back to 1. If you've ever had a burnt Pop Tart, you've had a million, so it's nice to know you don't have to burn that toaster. All in all, this is a great toaster for the money. I usually like Revain Basic products, but I'm glad I chose this toaster this time.
