This is a great purchase! Very comfortable, needed a pair of shoes to put on the kayak flow and I think they would be perfect! They fit well around the ankle, I was afraid they would be too loose due to my small ankles. They are easy to tighten and adjust, and the insole is easy to remove. I actually had to send my first pair back. I read some reviews that said they run large so I played it safe and only reduced the shoe by half a size from my usual shoe size. Came back down a whole shoe size. I'm usually 6.5 but I can do 7. But they are definitely big and 5.5 is perfect. If you're wearing them with any type of sock then maybe just half a size down will do, but I think I can still wear a sock and mine will be just as roomy.
