My 12 year old daughter suffers from anxiety, wakes up several times during the night and has trouble falling asleep. In the end I decided we had to try a weighted blanket so she could sleep well. When I first opened them I thought they sent the wrong one because a 10lb blanket seems MUCH heavier than a 10lb weight at the gym! We weighed it and it turned out to be correct. I considered going to 12 pounds but I'm glad I didn't. She likes it a lot and says it's so comfortable to sleep with him! Her sleep also got better with him. I should have bought a year ago and kicked myself now! The only thing that bothered me was that one of the cover's attachment loops broke from the seam! It's also one of the corner hinges that is most important in keeping the lid in place. I don't want to send it back and be left without it while we wait for a new one. Otherwise it's perfect - soft, effective and evenly weighted.
