Great for corners when you're tired of the tape!

These scratch pads work especially well if your cat likes to scratch corners (as many cats do). I have a fetish for sofa corners. It's made out of flexible plastic, so it's a bit more difficult to install than the hard plastic versions I've seen elsewhere. However, the flexibility gives it a much tighter fit. Another benefit is that you can customize the protection. I had to trim it down a bit and it was easy to do. If you have a small hole punch (smaller than the typical American hole punch used for 3-ring binders) you can easily punch a hole for the upholstery button, but this probably isn't necessary. Please note: if the texture of the upholstery is attractive to your cat, she will simply move to a clean area and keep scratching. These guards provide a physical barrier to areas cats instinctively scratch (sniff marks). If you need a stronger deterrent, I've had better luck with duct tape. Cats seem to hate this, and they often steer clear of the entire piece of furniture after a bad experience. (At least for a while!). But if you're tired of the dirty looking corner tape and tired of walking past furniture and the tape lands on your legs, give it a try!

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
