I got this to provide extra light where my cantilever umbrella was. It attached without issues, although whenever I open and close it, I need to adjust it. I do leave it on there all of the time and it hasn't had any issues. It provides a decent amount of light and uses AA batteries. I don't know how long batteries last, but I had all of the lights on for a good 4 hours with fresh batteries, and they were fine with no decrease in light. It has a switch for the outer ring of lights and a small button to turn on the inner 4 lights. It doesn't seem very water proof or even water resistant, so I would question whether it will hold up if you left it outside all of the time. The switch to turn on the middle 4 lights is a little difficult to push sometimes. A decent light for the price.
