Review on πŸ”Œ UGREEN USB Ethernet Adapter: Fast Gigabit RJ45 LAN Converter for Nintendo Switch, MacBook, Surface Pro, and More by Brad Schillings

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It does what IT should do and what a sane person would expect it to do.

Very happy with the purchase of the UGREEN USB 3.0 Gigabit Network Adapter. By computer standards, "3" years is a long time. So 3 x 3 meant how old my laptop was. I turned it down because it's a Windows 7 computer and you know the story. I've replaced it with a thin laptop (I'm not sorry. I still give it the ability to work offline to make it feel useful and not too jealous). This is relevant because when I bought it I overlooked the fact that it doesn't have a built-in ethernet port. Oops! In a giveaway full of electronic stuff (Yes I'm a collector, do I want to make something out of this?) I found a USB ethernet adapter that I bought in 2017. I plugged it into my new computer and plugged the modem into it. Well, reader, it all went wrong. This thing is constantly connecting and disconnecting with that sound your computer makes when it detects something you plug into it. "Bliblilip!.Bliblilip!" (Use your own performance if you like). In "Network Connections" I was staring at the adapter as it repeatedly said it was "connection", "identification". Blueblip! I made something that rhymes with "boogle" and was desperate for help. I got all sorts of advice. "Open Regedit", "Open command prompt as administrator and type", "Open Device Manager, go to advanced settings", "Try a different Ethernet cable", "Try it with another computer", "Download and install our utility. 100% success. (I'm desperate, not crazy). Nobody suggested that I try a different Ethernet adapter. I came up with this one myself. UGREEN USB 3.0 Gigabit NETWORK ADAPTER to the rescue! I bought it from Revain because "I liked the way it looked." Plus it got good user reviews. When I plugged it in, it worked straight away. No "Blibliblip!" that gave me the speed I paid my ISP for.. A bit "odd behavior": The adapter seemed strangely very warm when I first started using it. I was a little worried."It's supposed to be so warm?" "Is that okay?" From time to time I would reach out to touch it and check it. But after a day or two I noticed that during the almost cold to the touch after use. I stopped worrying. one. And it stayed that way with no issues for the weeks I used it. So go green and go UGREEN!

Pros
  • Protect, Replace or Add Ethernet Port: The USB 3.0 Gigabit Network Adapter is a good accessory to protect or replace your expensive computer's RJ45 network port. Easily add a standard RJ45 port to your Ultrabook, laptop or Macbook Air for file transfer, video conferencing, gaming and HD video streaming.
