Two pieces. Works perfect. Stick it to the windshield and then remove the mount.

Just what you need when you have multiple vehicles. You just keep the other half hidden in case your original breaks. You need to clean the windshield. Remove the glue, stick it where you need it, then hold it for a few seconds, then the other part will come off and you will have the magnet you want. I wish they would just sell the magnetic platter but it is. Other people have suggested something like a washing machine or an electrical plug and then put double-sided tape on it, but I didn't want it to look cluttered.
