This Arc floor lamp is solid and the remote worked right away once the lamp was installed and plugged in and the batteries in the remote. It's perfect for use in my home office. The great thing is that you can tilt the lampshade to cast lighting in the direction you want, so it's very versatile. I have a lamp between my desk (in front) and next to my chair, perfect for reading. In addition, the aesthetics are very appealing. I love that you can turn the lamp on and off with the button on the floor or the remote control. Although I use one of the lighting settings most of the time, it's nice to know that other settings are available as well. Suggestion: The hardest part of the build was assembling the lampshade. When trying to attach the wire frames of the lampshades, the clips didn't hold them properly and the frame popped out. It took me a few tries but I was finally able to get the clips on the lampshade to hold by gently sliding the clips over the wire to secure them. I was afraid the clips might break out of the ceiling panel but luckily that didn't happen. Please note that securing the frame with these clamps is no easy task when your hands are sore. It would be better if the lampshades had a "safer" clip system that the frame could snap to.
