They lasted until the baby outgrew them which I can't say about other companies. I don't like school uniforms in general, but if he has to wear them, he might as well get some last, right? These are the last ones. I would say order a size up but the sizes are a bit crazy. I had no problem ordering for my child who wears the smaller size everywhere. Just ordered a size up. Lasted all year. I would say size XL would be about small for male (large = very small for adult male). The child is taller than me but weighs 10 pounds less! I'm still tinkering so that all of his future summer clothing purchases will be linked to the purchase of ME shirts! They did their job and survived the wash just fine. I'll get the (big) ones again in the fall. I think you have to do something special with them to break them. The child says they are fine. Good weight for warm or cool weather. I'm not sure how true that is, but he insisted on short sleeves all winter in Louisiana.
