Worth the price

My TPMS light has been on for months. I realized that my '08 Jeep Commander had a bad sensor or battery, but before spending the money to replace one or more I wanted to find out which one or which ones were bad. Handheld TPMS scanners are quite expensive. I couldn't justify the cost of one of these scanners just to test the sensors. This Autel MaxiTPMS Pad Pro can read and program TPMS sensors. I found a YouTube video of a man placing a shim next to the valve stem on an assembled wheel and tire to get information from the TPMS sensor. I thought heck, for half the price of handheld scanners, I'll give it a try. Damn if it works! I was able to extract the codes from all four of my tires - still on the car - and found that not only were my sensors good, but so was the battery inside. In my case, the problem was that I swapped out the tires for a full size spare. I didn't put the 5th tire back under the car. There is no TPMS sensor on the stock rim so my car only read three sensors which is why the warning light on the dash came on. Eventually I will need to replace these sensors and when I do I can do it myself with the Autel MaxiTPMS Pad Pro and Autel MX sensors.
