So far my two Yorkie dogs love this mattress (I have a medium one). I think this mattress is enough to support a dog up to 30 pounds. Also, the case is semi-plush and holds up quite well. Here's why I didn't give 5 stars: First, "cooling gel" is just a colored 1 inch foam pad loosely glued to a 2 inch foam pad. Second, the zipper length of the cover is not enough. It runs the length of the width and less than half the distance of its length. That being said, removing the lid is quite difficult and will result in the top foam pad detaching from the bottom foam pad. So I would add an extra star if the lightning went all the way. Why are manufacturers ignoring the obvious need to wash covers so that the zipper runs down the length, width, and length? This is an "urgent" need!
