This antenna is "glued". There is no way to fix it with screws. The screws secure the mounting base to the top of the case with tape. The connection cable ends with a Motorola plug. The connecting wire exits through the underside of the upper shell. There is no access through the base. The antenna housing is not waterproof. The end of the "antenna" inside is a round weight about 2" and 3/8" long. (roughly) The wire is attached to the upper case with "glue" (assume epoxy). There is no socket on the wire to seal the case. The "load" of the antenna levitates on a glued wire parallel to the base. The base can be unscrewed and if desired the wire can be passed through the floor by drilling the appropriate hole. The assembly can be done with a pipe nipple and a nut. Tighten from the inside of the roof. The pipe nipple should be large enough to pass the assembled cable with the connector through, or if available, cut the cable you are rewiring into the new Motorola connector. A plastic nipple or sleeve with plastic nuts is best so as not to interfere with the reception of signals by the antennas. I didn't notice the power cord despite the description saying it was a 12 volt accessory. He seems to have no energy. It is best to install on a flat surface. Some adhesion to a curved surface can be achieved by sealing strips or very gentle sealing. It is recommended to seal the case with a silicone gasket to prevent water ingress. My car has an "active" windshield with defroster grilles and a "humidity sensor". I need an external antenna for my Garmin GPS to optimize my VHF traffic receiver. It uses a 1/8 TRS connector. I will remove the Motorola connector and solder the 1/8 TRS. I will use a magnetic mount and test this antenna before fumbling with a permanent mount. The plastic used for the body is painted black and can be painted after appropriate preparation.
