Just buy Eastwood

I thought I'd save a whopping $15 and buy an Eastwood clone. Hey, they look exactly the same. ok i hope it isn't. there were two main problems.1. There was a massive flat spot on the roller where the polyurethane hadn't filled the mold. I've tried using it as is and after a good hour it's just a total pain. I had to sharpen it on a lathe. now it works much better.2. The eyebolt slots will not fit 14mm x 1.5 (most German cars) and will need to be opened up for the bolts to fit properly. This was about 1.5 mm for me! I don't have a grinder so I had to take it to the machine shop where I simply loaded the end mill into the appropriate location. These two operations cost approximately (including round-trip shipping, setup, actual procedure, and cleaning). ) cost about 1.25 hours. I think my time is worth more than $12 an hour so it's really not the best route. Save your time and hassle and just buy a part that works the first time. By the way, now it works perfectly.

Pros
  • Solid Finish
Cons
  • Almost ok
