It was easy to put together and seems strong enough for the chicks. However, I would not feel comfortable putting any of our chickens on the top perch as they are large birds. Our 4 week old chicks are too big for the lower quarters. These basically ensure stability. They might be suitable for chicks under 2 weeks old if they were a smaller breed than ours. The top perch was a bit crowded with four chickens at a time so I ordered a second one as we will be making an extra payout. Our current group is not yet 4 weeks old.
