I bought this long leash to walk my dog in our fenced area for training and control purposes. This is a large (75#) dog and when on a leash she is a puller and "fence wrestler" with our neighbors dogs. The longer length helps her have some "walking room" but also allows me to work with her on line training and control and prevent her from struggling over the fence. I would NOT use this leash to lead outside of our fenced area. Although I don't think she could break the leash, the leash doesn't seem strong enough to reassure me. I use a much thicker and shorter leash for outdoor activities. Also, I think she could chew through that leash almost immediately if given the chance. It's ok for the price and seems to be well made. For a small medium-sized dog, it can be used for regular walks.
