Review on πŸ“€ Sony RDR-GX330 Single Tray DVD Recorder: Streamline Your Media Experience in Sleek Silver by Danny Robertson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice but slow DVD recorder

This is my first purchase of a DVD recorder which was triggered by a VCR croaking. I looked more closely at other manufacturers' options, but I was put off by reports of poor quality and cars dying out while they were young. I've found over the years that the quality of Sony components tends to last, which offsets their higher price tag. I agree with other reviewers that picture quality is excellent (indistinguishable from native SD), but this device is surprisingly slow. - a full minute just to turn on and typically more than a minute to load a pre-recorded disc (DVD + RW). Another feature that seems overly cumbersome is record scheduling. I mainly use this device for timeshifting and setting it up for show recording requires a lot of button presses. There's also a delay between pressing a button and the resulting screen change. There is a full numeric keypad on the remote, but it's useless for entering the time. Instead, you scroll up or down and wait one second of every minute for the clock to click. The remote control is not very handy and does not burn. Unfortunately, my Sony universal remote control does not cover all functions of this machine. Don't get me wrong, this is a quality machine for the price. If Sony could cut processing time and come out with a decent remote, it would be a '5'.

Cons
