Sensors not working

I've looked through a lot of adverts on this and this is the only one that says we don't need to change the oil temp sensor and we installed everything and reassembled my van and low and the temp sensor is working Not. We couldn't use the sensor from the old radiator as it was completely broken so now we have to order the sensor and disassemble my engine again to replace it.
