The chain grips, doesn't slip. Don't flatten.
While these training collars can get the job done, the links are crude and not very streamlined. Therefore, most of the time they tend to catch rather than slide. This results in the dog accidentally snapping his neck, possibly injuring him. As an example, I photographed a Petsvv chain (right) with its thick links next to a much better store-bought training collar (left). see the difference Unfortunately it's too late for me to return mine, but they are more valuable for locking gates than for training a dog.
