Review on ✨ VisionOwl Y1 15.6" Portable Monitor - FreeSync Frameless Protector, 1920X1080P, 60Hz, Flicker-Free, Anti-Glare Coating, Blue Light Filter, HDMI by Zhangtao Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing quality, light and thin portable monitor (at least for now).

I recently upgraded from an old 15" MacBook Pro to one of the new 14" MacBook Pros with the M1 Max chip. I didn't think it would make much of a difference as they extended the screen to the bezel area (the edges around the screen). Well I was wrong. I'm a freelance production coordinator in the film industry and I've struggled on a 15" screen that just wasn't enough. So I was looking for a decent, but fairly inexpensive portable monitor for a second monitor. Most of those I looked at weighed over £1.5 and more than I would be willing to pay for the amount of wear and tear they would get.I checked again the other day as my efficiency just isn't what it used to be should, and this one was not only at a great price ($159.99) but also came with an additional $20 discount coupon. Cope! Ready! So far I'm very happy with this vacuum! Although I checked the dimensions , it's bigger than I thought (that's a bonus). That's light. lighter than my iPad (although physically much bigger.) I'm also very surprised by the color, I managed to get it very close to the color d to bring it MacBook Pro. It's not exactly perfect, but damn close considering the price. It only connects to my MacBook Pro via USB-C for video, audio, and power. whether the MBP is running on battery power or is connected to the mains. At first I had an issue with the audio playing through the monitor's speakers, but the support team told me how to fix it (more on audio/speakers below). Review). That's another matter. How many company support departments answer the phone around midnight? 24/7 tech support talks about their documents! I tried and they answered the phone! It's fantastic, especially as I work anytime or odd hours! I've only had it a few days and I'm not at work so I haven't gotten through the pace yet, but I'm starting to use it at home. Basically, the job will require more screen real estate to have reference documents on it so I can enter budgets, purchase orders, preliminary documents like call logs, and other things on a screen other than a MacBook Pro. Now I'm personally thrilled to be able to work in Photoshop again because I have more screen real estate! The monitor comes with a magnetic cover (similar to Apply's iPad case) that converts into a very handy stand. for quick trips and whatever you have. Every time I work intensively on the computer, I have to put it on a stand for a more correct posture. I am currently using the stand I had for my iPad and it works great in landscape mode. My iPad stand no longer fits on the monitor in portrait mode, the monitor is too high. This company is so wonderful that they give you a free gift to choose from. I have decided on a stand. I'm just waiting for it to show up. It will really make my work much more efficient. The sound is the only shortcoming for me, but by no means an obstacle. It's just nice to have in case I need to show clients a presentation, video or animation by raising a monitor towards them. If this should happen, at least there will be a sound. In order for the sound to work, the sound (on the monitor) had to be turned up to 100%, otherwise you can't hear it. If you then select the monitor as the audio output in your MacBook Pro's settings, it will play (at least that's how it worked over USB-C). They said that by this point I should be able to control the audio levels with the MBP. I could not. There was literally a tone layer. Again, this isn't a deal breaker for me. Not to mention the sound/speakers are not very good. just nice to have it in a pinch. Overall I think this is a pretty fantastic monitor and deal so far and I am 100% happy with the purchase. Once I've put it on a few tiers and see how it holds up, I'll consider buying a second one so I don't have to keep packing this one to take to work. One for home and one for commuting. Definitely think it's worth it. I'll try to remind myself to come back and edit this review once I've played with it a bit and seen a few productions to share my insights on how it holds up to this abuse.
