I wanted to use an aquarium cover lamp that was about 15 years old. I have very limited electrical skills. After reading Revain reviews over and over again, I ended up not doing it myself. I opened up the old fluorescent dome to check the wiring, followed the black wire and followed the white wire to the switch. Cut the wires from the starter and ballast. The only wires left were a white wire to one end of the tube holder and a black wire to the switch. I connected another wire from the switch to the end of the tube holder. I have a hood with two bulbs so I had to do everything twice. I had two starters, two ballasts and two switches. To deliver power from the white wire to the second lamp holder I used a wire that I cut from the ballast and inserted into the end of both holders on the white wire side. Replaced the cover over the wires. He said a PRAYER, plugged the power cord into the outlet, sparks and there was no smoke. Thank you Jesus let there be light, turned on the switch and said THIS IS GOOD. I prepped the lighting fixtures before ordering the LED bulbs to get rid of the intimidating wires. I didn't remove the ballast, I just cut the wires because of the rusty screw heads.
