Improved Equipment and Clearance Requirements

First let me say that I really like these clasps, they are much prettier than the standard clasps and very strong. However, there are a few things that need improvement, which is why I gave them 3 stars. I installed them on my 2010 Wrangler and if you just use a JK spacer they hit the hood and eventually scratch the paint. I used a JL clamp and trimmed the edges of the JK clamp to make it look decent and now they only touch when I press down. That shouldn't have been a problem from the start, but it can be solved. Second, as previously mentioned, the hardware that comes with it is pretty crappy. Especially lock nuts. There is no washer and the top ones will wear away your paint. However, the threads are the same as on the drain, so the solution to this problem is to simply use the standard threads. I wish I understood that when I first put them on. I had to reapply some paint when I reinstalled the original washer nuts. So far, the screws make a fairly stable impression. All in all, latches are great, it's just that these issues should be brought to the attention of anyone thinking about them. Do yourself a favor and remove the grille to install the bottom latch. It has 6 clips on the top and then detaches making it much easier to access the nut.
