Silver is good, gold is useless

Overall, I can't really recommend this powder set, especially when there are so many others on the market. I originally bought it because I only needed those two colors, but now I'm just going to pick a set with more colors hoping for a better result. The silver powder is actually pretty decent. It has good coverage and opacity, turning to a smooth silver no matter what base color is underneath. The powder is also fine enough to really give you the mirror effect you want without the graininess. However, it can be a little streaky if the surface to be processed is not completely smooth. On the other hand, gold powder is absolute garbage. It's even slightly opaque and almost transparent on whatever surface you apply it to. It's also not fine or granular enough, no matter how hard you rub it. It basically just adds a little sparkle to whatever surface it's applied to, but it definitely doesn't give you that slick golden mirror effect. The only way I've had decent results is by applying it over a slick gold or yellow polish, but even then it doesn't give the reflective effect I'm looking for. As mentioned in other reviews, these powders don't hold up well with top coats either. The gold powder becomes almost completely opaque, while the silver powder retains its luster but loses all reflective properties. I have tried a standard gel top coat, a water based gel top coat and even a polyurethane spray and got the same result every time. I concede the possibility that this is still just user error, but with the other issues I've had with these powders, I think it's better for someone to just look for another set to purchase.
