Durable and very strong magnets. The only downside is that the magnetic edge has a rough metal finish and can easily scratch the surface you use it on. I needed this to weigh and level many painted metal cabinets. It will definitely scratch the finish if it slides across the surface at all. I need to cover the edge with tape or other material to avoid damaging the surfaces. It wasn't a well thought out design. If possible, you should slide two strips of thin plastic over the edge of the metal so that the metal sticks up slightly from the surface.
